A woman was arrested and charged with murder related charges after she allegedly killed her two children inside a hotel room, according to police reports in California.

Costa Mesa Police said that they charged a woman, Marilyn Edge, 42, with murder after the bodies her two children were found in a Southern California hotel.

The officers were led to the bodies of the Hampton Inn & Suites after the woman, who apparently attempted suicide on Saturday night, crashed her car into poles an electrical box, authorities said.

When police arrived at the parking lot of a Home Depot store in Costa Mesa, they found the woman with a rope around her neck.

She was trying to choke herself, police sergeant Tim Starn said.
She also had a propane tank inside her Honda Accord, and made comments indicating that she expected the car to explode.

Officers went to check on the hotel after the woman indicated that her children are staying there. The room on the third floor was rented in the name of the woman, authorities said. When police entered the room they found Jaelen Edge, 13, and Faith, 10, dead.

Her last known address was listed in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the car she was driving had Georgia plates.
The authorities did not know what she was doing in California.
